You and I take clean drinking water for granted, but for nearly 700 million people on the planet, access to safe clean drinking water is not available. One of the biggest crises in the world is the waterborne disease crisis. There are about 2000 children a day, under the age of 5, that die due to waterborne diseases. Hydrating Humanity provides clean drinking water by developing wells for villages that have never had access to clean water in their history.

Through a new game model called Play to Earn, gamers can now earn money by playing video games. The game industry generates billions of dollars each year and Unfamiliar Territory, a new Play to Earn game, hopes to spread the wealth to those in need.

The game industry has taken a turn to a promising new game model called Play to Earn. In this model, any gamer can actually make money through playing video games. Largely due to the rise of NFT’s, gamers now have control over their games and the collectibles they earn by playing them. Axie Infinity, a Play to Earn game, has made it possible for economies like the Philippines, to earn a living wage playing for only a few hours per day. In the same way, Unfamiliar Territory intends on bringing clean water to those in need through the sale of NFT wells. Unfamiliar Territory is a building game that uses NFT’s to build a virtual world. The game’s theme is centered around the need for water, and one of the main goals is to build wells. For every in-game Well built and every Well NFT sold, a real world well will be built!

“Water is life and the most basic need for every human on the planet. With every Well NFT sold, gamers will be partnering with our Hydrating Humanity’s indigenous team in Africa to bring up water from under the ground, giving life to hundreds of villages for generations to come.” Matt Peterson ~ Founder of Hydrating Humanity

Hydrating Humanity currently builds three types of wells. The least expensive is an artesian Spring Well that costs $3000 and typically serves around 250 people daily. Spring Wells safely produce clean drinking water 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They are possible when the water table is at or near the earth’s surface.

Hand-Dug wells are very effective in areas with a high water table within 60 feet of the earth’s surface. The well takes 2–4 weeks to dig and complete, and the entire community usually participates in construction. Hydrating Humanity technicians line the well shafts from the bottom up with solid concrete culverts and seal it with a hand pump to ensure safe clean drinking water for decades to come. Hand dug wells cost about $6000 and serve around 500 people daily.

The largest water source, a Drilled Well, is drilled when the water table is not reachable by hand digging. Drilled wells often yield much more water than hand dug wells and are done with a large Drill Rig operated by Hydrating Humanity. A drilled well costs about $10,000 and typically serves 1000 kids at school daily and is up to 600 feet deep with an electric pump and holding tank.
